7.1.2 Altitude Control

Coupling effects between the velocity of the vertical rise rotorcraft and the dynamics of the attitude give rise to the imperfection of the flight control system. External wind conditions followed by the varying thrust forces from the four propellers perturb the velocity acceleration of the air vehicle. The aerodynamics cause the roll and pitch deviations during vertical acceleration. Thus, disturbances occur during altitude positioning and hovering of the aircraft . It will affect the accuracy of the altitude control system. Nevertheless, a fourth controller is necessary to command and control the vertical positioning of the air vehicle (Figs. 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4).
